Hellenbroek is a well known figure in the conservative churches in the Netherlands. He was born in 1658 and died in 1731. As a minister, he belonged to the Further Reformation movement that focused on experiential preaching and a pious walk. He served different congregations, but most of his years in Rotterdam. In those years he wrote a catechism booklet called A Specimen of Divine Truths for those that wanted to prepare themselves for confession of faith.
